| Anti Virus and Anti Spyware | Renewals / Updates Question: Should I update my anti virus program when my subscription runs out? Answer: Yes. In today's computing environment, it is of vital importance that you keep your anti virus and anti spyware programs up to date. You need to plan for this.
If you buy a computer with an anti virus program pre-installed, the vendor usually gives you a license for 60 to 90 days. Optionally, you can buy the computer with a one year license, sometimes longer. If you buy a computer and add it to a network that has an enterprise version of anti virus protection, your new computer should be added to the enterprise system.
If your software is registered, when it is nearing the expiration date, the software vendor will contact you, prompting you to renew your subscription. You can choose to let it expire. But be warned! Without protection, you, your data, your network, and your business are at risk. There are more entities out there today, than ever before, propagating viruses, spyware and all sorts of problems.

WHEN (NOT IF) you are attacked, you may loose files or loose access to files and/or the Internet and email that you need to conduct business.
Purchasing an update or a new copy of the software after the breach may rectify the problem, but this is not always the case. Once a computer is infected, it may not be recoverable. Imagine the lost productivity because of that! We have had to reload the operating system and programs on some of our customer's computers because they ignored the warning.
Do yourself a favor by keeping your software up to date. |
