Phone Types provide a method of classifying phone numbers on Contacts, Organizations and Organization's Locations. Selecting Phone Types under the PIMS Administration section of the PIMS Main Menu will display the Phone Types Management page, shown below.
The grid on the left displays the Phone Type, the number of times this Phone Type has been used with PIMS, and an Edit link. Selecting the Edit link will display the record in the form on the right. Above, the Edit link for the Direct Line phone type has been selected. The three buttons on the edit form provide the following functions: Save, Delete and Add.
Save Record - Saves changes
to the current record.
Delete Record - Deletes the
current record. Note that this applies only to Phone Types that have a
Count of 0 (zero).
Add New Record - Clears the
existing form and allows the user to enter a new value.
When a given button is not appropriate for the current record or the state of the form, it will be grayed out and disabled, preventing its use. For example, with the Direct Line entry selected above, the Delete Button is disabled to prevent you from using it.
Why can't I delete Phone Types that have been used?
Values that have been used must remain in the PIMS database to provide for the generation of reports, searches and filtering of records.
